Panfield Parish Council is pleased to inform residents that the play equipment on John Barr playing field is now open. Please make sure that you follow any notices placed on the equipment and follow government guidance on the rule of 6, social distancing, washing hands and what to do if you or a member of your family has symptoms.

 

John Barr Playing Field

Play equipment John Barr playing fieldAccessed from two points in St Mary’s Close, John Barr playing field is an enclosed grassed play area. Bordered by hedgerows and trees, it has:

  • play equipment for children of varying ages
  • bench seating
  • a full-sized football pitch with goal posts and nets

The area also includes allotments for rent by Panfield residents.

Panfield Parish Council manages the playing field under a long term, rent-free, lease from Braintree District Council.

Thistledown Field

Thistledown play equipmentThistledown Field is a large grassed recreation area. It is mainly edged by hedgerows and trees, including specimen and commemorative trees. You can enter it from two points from Thistledown, or footpaths: 2, 18, 19, and 26.

The area includes:

  • a multisport wall
  • an ‘artwork-seat’
  • a pond
  • uncultivated areas to encourage wildlife and biodiversity

Essex Wildlife Trust completed a survey of the pond towards the end of 2018 to look at its condition.

Panfield Parish Council manages Thistledown Field and Panfield residents own it.

Panfield Village Green

Panfield Village signPanfield Parish Council acquired the Village Green for the benefit of village residents. You will find it along Kynaston Road. The village sign is here along with a ‘pocket garden’ which was added during 2020 / 2021 with the help of village residents. The Green is also managed by the Parish Council.
