Former Parish Council Members

On this page you will see listed all Parish Council Members since parishes first formed in 1894.

Up until 1947 the meetings were just known as Parish Meetings and led by one person. They took place when this person felt it was necessary. There was no formal agenda for these meetings.  In February 1947 Parish Meetings became Parish Councils. This meant they had to have an elected Chairperson and members of the Parish Council.

By 1953 there is evidence, within the old Minutes, that a Vice chairperson was also elected. Originally, there were only five members of the Parish Council. But in March 1949 legisltation stated that there must be seven members of the Parish Council.

The list below was originally collated in December 2016 and is updated as required.  It is as accurate as the old minute books contained the information. The records before the 1980s were difficult to verify and there are undoubtedly some inaccuracies.  We thank Mrs A Cole for her research of the parish archives.
